How complex a configuration do you have on the 600?
If basic, I'd be inclined to install the 520 at v5r4
restore profiles
manually config (ethernet, etc) - you can create a source clp on the 600 with rtvcfgsrc and use it to build the config on the 520
restore data

Subject: Data Migration from a V5R1 model 600 to a V5R4 520

In a couple of weeks, I have to migrate one of our clients from a model
600 to a new model 520.
I had been told by our salesperson (didn't check myself until yesterday
-- shame, shame on me) that the model 600 was running V5R2.
So a normal data migration to a V5R4 520 should have been a problem.
Get the 520 loaded with LIC and base i5/OS, load the data from the model
600
and complete the i5/OS and LPP installation.

With the model 600 at V5R1, I don't have a supported upgrade path to
V5R4.

So here is my question:

Can I scratch install the 520 and load my V5R3 LIC and base i5/OS CDs
(V5R3 LIC is CD RSE), load the data from the model 600, complete
the V5R3 i5/OS and LPP installation, and then do a complete V5R4 upgrade
on the 520 to get it current?

It seems do-able as I think about it, but I wasn't sure if there were
any V5R3 LIC level requirements for the 520?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Scott
