The client is started when you use the FTP command. There's no server
job for the client. The STRTCPSVR *FTP command starts the FTP server.

Subject: FTP Server Auto/Manual Start
OK, it's a brain dead Thursday..
I know that somewhere in Operations Navigator last week, I found an
clientto enable/disable the auto starting of both the FTP server and FTP
inwhen FTP is started, but for the life of me I can't find it now either
asOps Nav, or green screen or by searching the midrange archives.
I distinctly remember "disabling" the FTP server piece as a "test" to
prove
something to our resident "the 400 (i5 to me) is old and not as secure
trieda
Windows server" expert. I left it off and forgot about it until I
forto
ftp a savf to it this morning. No production stoppage as all our FTP
listproduction is with the i5 acting as a client.--
