Good point, Aaron! Maybe the better term would be "obsolete" languages,
of which RPG-ILE is *not*, and it is one where our community is small
enough to where we have some influence over its future direction and the
future direction of its supporting OS as well.
Some of us might add obsolete coding practices.
Most of us on this list have seen the history and are doing our level
best to keep from favoring technologies that are 100 percent under the
control of a "virtual" monopoly that historically has shown that they do
not care about making good technology except to maintain the
stranglehold on our purse-strings.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
IBM had a near-monopoly on technology 1950s and 1960s, but as the OS/2
and the System i experience shows, although their marketing may stink
and flop sometimes, at least they paid attention to making it good,
stable, and generally secure.
