The answer is, yep, the info is captured by the RDBMS engine as all tables, views, etc. are under its control. It also depends on vendor just how easy it is to get to that data. Sometimes another vendor in the tools market will do a better job than the RDBMS vendor of supplying database management info. You might want to seek out what's available for the real DB2s under VM and MVS.
