Actually our raised floor is raised floor tiles installed over a section
of concrete that was dug out to a depth of 8 inches.
When we were in Lake Forest, we built our own raised floor for the
computer closet. 3/4" plywood over a frame of (if memory serves) 2x6s,
just resting on the existing carpeted floor. For cables to pass through,
it had a few holes, and a large open area at the back; it also had an
access hatch.
When we moved to Costa Mesa, the new computer cage was such that a
raised floor wouldn't have been of any use to anybody, so instead (just
in case the cesspool overflowed its banks and flooded us out), we put
the D02, 200, and 40S on wooden dollies that raised them about 7" off
the floor.
