Is it perfect? No. Is it free? No. But is it the right direction?
I think so.

Last year's focus was on PHP. This year's focus is on RDi. It's good
to see IBM continuing to reach out to developers.

I guess they are reaching out to Linux based systems. Problem for us is they
are leaving i5/OS behind them. PHP and whatever RDi is are platform
agnostic. i5/OS remains with the clunky 10 char object name limitation, 16
meg space segments, a DB2 which does not support the DB2 features found on
AIX and Windows systems, and ILE which does not know reflection or managed
code. Arguably, the focus of V6R1 is to virtualize and encapsulate i5/OS
legacy applications on system p hardware, as a guest in the AIX world.
