Scott, one thing you didn't cover in your great post was the quoting in QShell to which Bill Burnet referred. I was curious about this because I've always used double quotes (") successfully. Mostly to handle file names that contain spaces.

I found out that single quotes tell QShell to treat everything within the quotes literally (except other single quotes), while double quotes tell QShell to ignore special character _except_for_ ['$','`','\'].
