Has anyone else had this nightmare dealing with Innovis? Any other EDI
software providers that you prefer.
Inovis gave us the same explanation that Scott got about going by CPW
and not tier. Apparently most "i" vendors have dropped the IBM tiered
pricing model as it's a loser for them.
Rather than pay the license transfer fee, we are converting everything
from Inovis to Sterling Commerce's GIS. Should be done in a couple of
weeks. If it was for the high tranfer fee, we might have kept Inovis
for a couple more years.
I was not involved in the purchase of either product, so I can't comment
on pricing, but maintenance is far less for GIS. We use the windows
version (GIS also runs on i, p and z). I'm setting up new GIS servers
and didn't have to pay a transfer fee. Nice not to be penalized for
getting new hardware.
If it were up to me, I'd run GIS on unix. We interface to the "i" via
JDBC and stored procedures and SAP via their SAP suite adapter.
