It was a a jest - i doubt IBM would ever do that, they'd be stupid if they did.

I still think one should migrate away from Matrix printers whenever possible.

Forms printed with matrix printers require (expensive) preprinted
forms, that are pretty inflexible - if your business needs change you
might need to throw away hundreds of preprinted forms. With laser
printers you can use overlays and change output as desired by your
business - the business can make the decisions instead of the
technology.

Yeah, lasers require maintenance, perhaps more than matrix printers.
But looks are important - i see less and less papers printed using
matrix printers - yet most of the old school AS/400 shops still use
them. And i've never seen companies which have switched ERP solutions
to stay with matrix printers.
