Adam,

I have a few products that are low cost and would help.

First is Output Queue Trigger (www.bvstools.com/outqtrg.html). This allows
you to set up "triggers" on output queues. When a spooled file reaches, the
output queue, you can have it call any command or program with all the
spooled file parameters as parameters.

Spooled File Tool (www.bvstools.com/spltool.html) could be used either
manually or automatically (called from OUTQTRG above) to convert the spooled
file to HTML, PDF, RTF or text and placed in the IFS. It even has a nice
WRKSPLF-like interface, and commands that can be used on their own.

For emailing there are a lot of products as well out there, but my eMail
Tool (www.bvstools.com/mailtool.html) product integrates with the above
products and has many more features. With SPLTOOL and MAILTOOL installed,
you can convert and email spooled files in one simple command.

All of my tools I have created out of necessity for myself and use them
personally. These have been around for years and in use by thousands of
customers.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks!

Subject: Spool files - programs or utilities to change their
location/filetype?

Hello,

I have several reports that get dumped to outqs on the system. Some
are generated by third party programs and some are generated by wrkqry
queries.

Currently those reports are printed out and distributed.

Is there a way to get them to the IFS or something so that people can
access them when needed and we don't need to print them out and
distribute? If the email server was enabled on the iSeries, would it
be easy to automate the reports being emailed out?

The users don't have access to Operations Navigator, so pulling them
off that way is a route I am looking to avoid.

Any ideas or leads are appreciated.

Adam
