I am going to have to try suspend mode. I hate the morning waits. Only
10 minutes would be an improvement for me! Does suspend power off, but
leave everything saved, right where you were? Cause I try not to work on
it at home (gotta relax sometime) and wouldn't want it to drain. When I
plan on working on it at home I simply undock, drive the 5 minutes to home
and plug it back in.

Rob,
When are you going to start really utilizing your laptop? :-)
I absolutely concur with you! I do not have a keyboard attached to my
dock though I do have a mouse that is used rarely when extreme accuracy is
required. I use the 'eraser' 99% of the time and the laptop keyboard 100%.
Get used to it and keep your hands where they belong! I have my 27" flat
screen positioned above my laptop on a stack of old 4GB hard drives giving
me lots of 'real estate' to work with. Those who've seen my task bar know
it rarely has open space as I have 30 or more things going at any time.
Another thing I do to increase productivity is use Suspend mode. I never
power off unless I need to do hardware and don't reboot until that rotten
adobe reader locks up the entire machine! (grrrrrr). I'm always puzzled by
people watching windoze come to life and then they either need to open
programs and files one at a time or they have the startup crowded with so
much stuff it swamps the poor machine for 10 minutes as everything grinds
to a start!.
I too am amazed that people don't use both the desktop and laptop
screens as nearly every laptop will do so these days. In fact a couple
weeks ago I was at a customer and asked her why she didn't use both. She
said she wasn't sure what was wrong but it made the display on her laptop
have a different font when she tried it. I was puzzled so I checked it
out. Turned out the laptop had 1680 x 1050 capability but the external
monitor was only 1280 x 1024 capability! Her laptop was set at 1280 x
1024 so they would be the same size when she took it home!
Often we claim to be technology people and then we ignore that right in
front of us!!

I tend to use my laptop monitor as primary, and the drive in theatre size
screen as extra. I also eschew the mouse and keyboard from the docking
station. Can't understand why taking my fingers off of the keyboard and
using an extra mouse would be more productive than getting used to the red
mouse in the middle of the keyboard. Did take some serious discipline to
get used to it though.
I'm stunned by my coworkers who use their extra monitor and just plain
flat shut their laptop monitor and don't use it when docked. Then again,
I have 9 browser sessions, 8 5250 sessions, domino, notepad, iNav, adobe
reader, dos prompt, Free Cell (been a lot of long nights battling tape
drives this week) etc going. And, if they have 2 5250 sessions and notes
going they get lost.
