Simon;
I did do a DSPUSRPRF, as I don't have authority to CHGUSRPRF, and took a quick glance through the options. I am sorry that "user options" did not pop into my mind as an obvious parameter to enable/disable *STATUS messages being displayed. True I could have hit help on the 40 odd parameters but I was just curious about this specific parameter. I had no need to spend the time to hunt it down.
On the other hand you could have been generous and just simply answered the question, or you could have just ignored it all together, I would have thought nothing of it either way. But with this response you have tarnished your image in my mind.

What would the parameter be to do that?
Now that's another example of what I consider a stupid question (and
NO, it's not unprofessional to say so). The reason it's stupid is
that you could have answered it for yourself simply by:
Hmm, change something in the profile? Let's prompt the CHGUSRPRF
command. Or maybe the CHGPRF command. Press F9 to see all parameters,
and look for something related to user preferences. Oh, what's that?
User options? That's interesting. I wonder what the HELP for that
field might say.
Regards,
Simon Coulter.
