When we have to pass around passwords for the company's "support"
account on customer boxes, whether spoken, on paper, or in email, we
normally just pass around the two critical characters that are enough to
not only fill out the pattern, but to tell a knowledgeable user which
pattern to fill out.
Yes, I know, it's "security by obscurity," but it's better than passing
around the entire password.
And when I set up new accounts on our boxes, I customarily pre-expire
the initial password.
