My question, "Where do I find a list of all the Reference numbers for
all IBM manuals and user guides?"
I did not ask the IBM tech, but do you know?
What do you feel is the quickest way to search for and find an IBM
guide?

A round-about answer to your question:
I check the IBM Redbooks site periodically to see what's new.
I like the portals that let me focus on i-related stuff, for example.
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks.nsf/portals/systems

Anyway, there's a link from Redbooks to "IBM Publications" which if you're in the U.S. takes you to http://www.elink.ibmlink.ibm.com/publications/servlet/pbi.wss?CTY=US

This provides a search capability for IBM publications.
I tested your search using "TotalStorage 3582" and found a downloadable version of "IBM TotalStorage 3582 Tape Library Setup, Operator, and Service Guide (GA32-0458-02)".

I'm not familiar with reference numbers like "S7001200" but the website I described above gets you the same manual.
