When I've encountered these symptoms it usually had to do with our
Exchange Server accepting, and distributing, the emails from our System
i. Our System i happily sends the email but Exchanges rejects it that's
the end of it. We see no feedback from MSF. We then get our network
folks involve to sift through the Exchange logs. Not sure if this is
true in your case, but it can be very frustrating.

Interesting, except that this seems to assume that either (1) mail is
being sent through SNADS (it's not; it's being sent from QtmmSendMail),
or (2) QtmmSendMail is throwing exceptions (it's not; the messages
simply aren't going anywhere, and neither QtmmSendMail, nor anything
else I can find, is throwing exceptions).
