I tend to agree, which is why I wanted to clarify what he had in
mind. I know how to turn the bit off without application awareness,
and having the bit off will have implications on other aspects of the
display (as you point out). I could restrict the bit change to
monochrome displays only, but again it's hard to say if that's what
he had in mind.
