Nathan,

I am competing against a Windows based package. This is despite the fact that I have some significant home turf advantages, such as:

- A long term relationship with the company
- We know their business
- They already own their iSeries hardware and software
- They have 2 5250 tri-track forms printers
- They recognize the stability of the iSeries and i5/OS

I may still win the battle, but developing a brand new system that looks "old" is a major strike coming right out of the gate. The decision makers at IBM just don't seem to get it.

What are you competing against? If I catch your drift, you're a contract consultant/developer. Are you competing against a Windows consultant/developer? Or competing against a Windows package? Or competing against a PHP/Flex/Flash developer? Or just competing against a vague notion that Windows or Linux is more modern than IBM i? Perhaps somebody on the list address those concerns.
