As James mentioned, the attribute hex codes take up space, so your field
will need to be longer than 40 bytes.

Also be aware that if this is an input-capable field, that:
1) As soon as someone types over the attribute value, the HI/RI will
disappear
2) The attribute values will be stored in the database field along with the
data, unless you parse it out first...
