What version of i5/OS are you running? Probably helpful to know also what CUME level you are running.

It looks like maybe some symbolic links are broken. On my V5R3M0 machine the usr/lib/ folder is a symbolic link that points to /QOpenSys/usr/lib

libc.a is a symbolic link that points to ../../QIBM/ProdData/OS400/PASE/lib/libc.a

I had problems with symbolic links before and I wonder if that isn't what you are experiencing here.

Pete,
Unfortunately the first tool which is rpm complains about libc.a like this (this is the typical error I got from all those AIX programs):
rpm Could not load program rpm: Symbol resolution failed for /opt/freeware/lib/librpm.so because: Symbol unsetenv (number 135) is not exported from dependent module /usr/lib/libc.a(shr.o). Could not load module /usr/bin/rpm. Examine .loader section symbols with the 'dump -Tv' command. Is there something I can do to avoid this error?

Zvi,

Check out the Young i Professionals (Yips) site http://www.youngiprofessionals.com/wiki/PASE/PASE

Might be something there you can use.

Hi,
How can I get gcc 4.1.3 or newer binaries for PASE ?
(which do not complain about missing libraries)
When I try to install ClamAV it says that my gcc 4.1.1 has a bug
and it misses a lot of viruses if I ignore it.

Zvi
