I understand everything you said there. I do use my laptop to get shared
console sessions. I understand about the port 2300, using shared, etc.
When it works, it works great. And most time it's pretty reliable.
However, when there's some sort of burp and you can't get your console
going you're hosed remotely. And I've had that happen too often this
week.

Another example, let's say you're out of town (for example Dallas at a
Common Connections conference). And you are creating a new lpar remotely.
And you start the shared session for this new lpar remotely. If you
didn't start the session physically on the hmc first before sharing it
then when you disconnect you lose your session. I initialized the drives
three times before I called back to the office and had someone start the
session there and then shared it remotely.
