You will need to tell the LAN console to which IP it has to connect,
and the LAN console also needs a "device ID" on the system. In the
initial setup, this is created automatically.

It had to be different in the Power 5 era. Now, with the HEA in the
Power 6 machines, you can share a single LAN cable with the IBM i OS
and the SST IP address, which is used for LAN console functionality.

Though that's not really a recommended setup - the LAN console should
be in the management network, not in your production traffic network.
