That is a poor design on all those 5xx boxes, in that the internal disk
controller in the CEC was not able to be maintained (battery changed) either
concurrently or without bringing the system down entirely

Subject: Outage on one Lpar causes otehr Lpars to fail

We have a model 570 system running multiple lpars. As of now there is DISK
IO card for one of the Lpars in the main card enclosure hence when we had to
change the cache battery for the lpar the whole system had to come down
along with all lpars
Trying to avoid the same situation again where are the other places on the
as400 system which we can look to see where we have some technology that is
assigned to a single partition that if there were an issue on that partition
it would be responsible for an outage on some other partition.
