Have you done a GO PTG  Option 8 to install the PTF's?

When you power down/restart are you specifying IPLSRC(B)?  You need to
do that.

As to changing defaults - the usual instructions say that if you have 
additional PTFs to load, then turn off automatic IPL- something like 
that. This would be the case if you had the cume and some group ptfs. So

there is nothing sacred about those defaults.

I have to say, there is ample documentation on the process - yes, you 
won't do well by taking dart throws at various links and use google - at

least IMO.
