Hi Sneha
I believe you may have missed out on a step
In Client Access, under tools, choose Create Iseries Database file. Do this
first as it creates a file definition file or fdf
This should format the data for you

Hi All,

I am still having problems transferring the file.Below are the options I
take

Using Client Access I do the following:

On Iseries
1.Put System Name
2.Put the library/file name as in the iSeries

On PC side:
1.Output Device:File
2.File Name:Test

This gets downloaded at the IBM Client Access Folder. When I open it up with
Notepad the data comes as scaterred.I cannot use this data because I have
to filter out certain users based on their user class.

Do I have to do any adjustments in Data Options/File Details/Format Options
in 'Data Transfer from i Series Box'.

Till now the following options have been taken :

In File Details window:
File Type:ASCII Text
Transfer Server Data to ASCII

In PC file description file:
Save Transfer Description is checked
Radio Button with 'Enhanced' is checked

Please can anyone help me on this

Regards
Sneha

I just did a DSPUSRPRF against my User ID to file QGPL/JUNKIT.

I used Client Access to RECEIVE this file to file JUNKIT on my PC.  It put
the file into C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access.

I used NOTEPAD to open it up and I could see all of the data.  The Packed
Fields were 'junked' up a bit, but that can be correctted on the i side
before you send the file.

You should have no problem using Client Access to transfer your file.

Thanx,

Nick

There's no reason FTP won't work. If the file exists on the iSeries, and
if
you're specifying the correct file and member in the FTP statement, you
should be able to do that. Post a DSPFD of the file (showing the top of
the
listing that shows the library and file and the bottom of the listing that
shows the record count) and the FTP subcommand where you do the get.

If you're not able to get it with FTP or a file transfer from iSeries
Access, I would think configuring Netserver (SMB) or NFS would be out of
the
question.

Hi,

I want to copy the user profile dump on my i series to my PC.I tried

this thru
DSPUSRPRF USRPRF(*ALL) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(USER).

But I am facing problem in copying the outfile User to my PC.I tried the
FTP commands and also the iseries access. But they are not working.

Please can anyone suggest an alternative approach to do this operation
apart from the one which I am doing.
