Call up a parts dealer. These disks are quite cheap - you should be

order these disks as replacement parts, but they will be rather
expensive.

Does this sound reasonable? Is there anything else I should be doing apart from taking as many backups as I can?

Possible, but risky. You might also be able to move your data around
without cleaning the system, but i'm not sure how much of that stuff
works on a broken RAID set.
