It is possible to be using the smaller Internal Raid Controller to support
the 5886... If that is the case then NO you aren't going to be able to move
the tape between partitions. The Guested/Hosted partition can handle
virtualizing the DVD between partitions

This is true - and it makes sense.

It works like this: You can't switch tape drives. The HMC
doesn't know about tape drives - the HMC knows about
controllers. If the controller is attached to a tape drive
and several hard disks, switching the controller to a
different partition would switch the disks too.
