I have found that most rpm installations in PASE are using a 4.x binary which doesn't support the aid feature (automatically handling dependencies instead of just saying that they aren't met). This is a show stopper for me for using rpm.

In case you aren't already aware, the Young i Professionals wiki has some 
helper scripts to get the AIX version of rpm running on i via the PASE for i 
runtime:
