HA solutions are great, but most require a switch over period. I suppose
if you plan on doing your backups on the backup machine that might work.
The backup will probably have to:
- stop the replication from the source to the target
- perform backup
- start the replication back up.
Our HA solution locks all objects from update on the target system. Stops
people from updating that machine accidentally. It's not simultaneous two
way updates like Lotus Domino (of course with Domino you occasionally get
"replication or save conflicts").
And if you have a few thousand objects in your file library it may take
several minutes (possibly longer than the save time) to perform the stop
or the start.
