Are you talking about writing a web application or running a web site or are you talking about a 5250 equivalent that is web based for i?

Static web content can be easily served using the HTTP server. Web applications that are PHP, Java, CGI, etc will require that you install the appropriate application server. If you want to just access the i with a web application (replacing 5250 or Operations Nativigator) take a look at IBM i Access for Web http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/i/software/access/web/
