Hmm. It's at V4R2. Would it be possible to stuff our existing drives 
into a used 40S? (The last complete backup was at the top of the year, 
and the last SAVCHGOBJ was at the end of January; there's a small 
handful of changes made since then, that wouldn't be all that difficult 
to recreate.

The only software on it are PDM/SEU/SDA, compilers for RPG (both ILE and 
OPM), CL, and ILE C, and stuff we developed ourselves (including my own 
front-end for the MI compilation API). The "processor" side has 2619 and 
2621 books in it (neither of which is in use); the "expansion" side has 
an I/O processor and 3 inert 264A books that are as empty as the space 
between my ears.

At this point, its raison d'etre is to provide a box that's completely 
isolated from the outside world (the only ways in or out are Twinax and 
QIC tape), on which to store and work on "the family jewels" (i.e., the 
MI source for QuestView, and the MI source for anything that has 
anything to do with our authorization code system.

How much does a used, but guaranteed-operational, 40S go for, these days?

Another thought: Is there any way I could, say, kill mirroring, and move 
one of the pair from the expansion side over to the processor side?
