Perhaps I didn't leave the cables unplugged for the 2 minutes I just read
about. The alternative also mentions the "FSP pin hole reset". Where's
that? Is there a negative ramification with that? Like, total
reconfiguration?
Sure miss how easy it was on AS/400's! I submitted a DCR to that effect.

Spent $87 on that little cable. Which arrived on it's own truck from Towne Freight. Plugged in cable and UPS. Powered off all lpars. Powered off system. Physically removed power cables from system. Drank a tea. Put cables back in. Powered up system. Powered up all lpars. Unplugged power cable to UPS. No message on any lpar. Rob Berendt

All 8 partitions get the message simultaneously. The FSP gets the message and passes it up the food chain. To get the FSP to 'see' the UPS you do need to power down cold (plugs pulled) then connect the UPS Cable, then power it all back up. - Larry "DrFranken" Bolhuis On 8/16/2011 5:18 PM, phil.seay@xxxxxxx wrote:> I have a Power5 9406-550 with eight partitions. We are about to move itfrom a room with a UPS+Generator to a room with UPS only. So now I have
to implement a UPS monitoring program. If I specify a message queue for
system value QUPSMSGQ on all eight partitions, will those eight message
queues all get UPS messages? Is it the FSP that sends the messages? I
believe I'll have to power down all eight partitions and then actually
unplug the 9406-550 in order for the UPS system values to be recognized.
Is that right? Many thanks!
