There's little is any at all extra work to go to 7.1 instead of 6.1.
Going to 7.1 now would give them a longer period of "not broken don't
fix it" before they are forced to upgrade again.
Not to mention that some of the features of the POWER7 hard can only
be taken advantage of if you're running 7.1.
