Basic time trials. Did our month end process run significantly faster on
them than prior to their arrival? Our goal, before looking for any
solution, was something to make our month end process run faster. So, any
facts about something increasing performance elsewhere was immaterial.
It was decided not to rewrite our vendor's application to add COMMITs and
ROLLBACKs (if and where appropriate). It was felt that it would be a
further detriment to upgrades.

Adding the HA Journal performance option to the OS was much more bang for
the buck.
