Apparently, it has been sold. I am convinced, now, that it is junk. The seller posted several updates. It has no os. The tape is the MULIC tape. Seller also mentiones powering it up. Yellow light came on. Also several SRC codes were listed. Last bid I saw was around 80 dollars.

I wasn't really a "laptop as400"... It was a PC type enclosure (tiny for its day) that paired with a laptop (with a twinax emulation card) to act as the terminal/console.

It was used mostly for sales presentations and the like, as it was too small and slow to accomplish much...

hmm in theory you should be able to do a D type IPL from the tape that
has the lic and os, fresh reinstall and voila!
Or you could go into DST and hope for the default password, i dont
know when the "reset os password" setting was added to the DST...
do you have a link? i would like to see such a thing as a laptop AS...

Best regards,

I have no interest in buying a 9401 CISC. But, I am curious. The seller states this:

Type: 9401.

S/N: 44-90434

One and the only AS400 "laptop version".

AS400 is in working condition. If I remember well it have V3R??? OS installed.

Tape with OS is included.

I do not have QSECOFR password.

Softcase, Tape and some cables are included.

I do not have a time to play with it.

I'm selling it AS IS.

No return Accepted

Since seller states "I do not have QSECOFR password", along with it being quite old, my thought is that this is essentially junk. Am I wrong?
