Thanks for the reply.

I was already using my own translation tables, but now would like to use the
iconv api for translation purposes.  Since iconv uses a from- and to- CCSID
table I am looking for the possiblility to specify my own CCSID mapping.
Failing that I have to revert to QDCXLATE api that does indeed use the
tables defined with the CRTTBL command..
