I like the kill switch but I really like to code a check for end job just before I go to read the data queue. I code a 30 second wait, not indefinite wait. The loop run until the data is greater than zero. Just outside of the loop I process the data read from the queue.

Basically I code the shutdown op code to set on LR then if LR, return. This will then gracefully end your program just before you read the data queue if the system is shutting down or the subsystem is ending.
