FWiW I was once frustrated by many but infrequent mysterious cases of
the emulator window [or perhaps the whole application] disappearing.
Eventually the cause was tracked down to some special keyboard mapping
being too close to some OS shortcut sequences. There would be no issue
as long as the _next_ key(s) pressed were not the shortcut characters to
effect close of the window [or application].
