I am trying to compile a service program that needs to be changed. I first need to test it in development (DEV) then promote to TEST for users to test then PROD for use.
We use a stacked library list simplified for the purpose of discussion:
Development library list:
DEV
TEST
PROD
Test library list:
TEST
PROD
Production library list:
PROD
That way objects that are not currently being changed need only exist in the PROD library. Only current modifications exist in TEST or DEV. That means if I'm compiling an RPG program with a display file, that file might only exist in PROD if it's just a program change.
My service program is already in PROD. When I compile to DEV, I get a bunch of CPD5D03 Definition supplied multiple times for symbol.
Is there a simple fix? Or do I get the choice of either deleting/renaming the PROD (and possibly TEST) programs before compiling in DEV or compiling just this one program with a different job description that doesn't contain PROD? (The latter being especially bad if the program in question needs PROD objects which is luckily not the case today.)
