I did the same thing. New box included new & old IP when we went live. Old
box switched to 10.xxx.xxx.99 so no one would accidentally find it. Change
the system name(s) too - DNS pointed both names to the new IP.

Angus,
I had this situation some years ago (though a lot fewer users!). I set up
the new server on the network with its own IP address and name. The weekend
we cut it over to production (and removed the old server), I updated the IP
address to include the old server's address, as well as keeping the new one.
These were internal (10.) addresses, but can't see while it wouldn't work
for "real" addresses - as long as the old server is taken off the network,
or had a different address applied to it.

Subject: New System
We currently have around 800 users and we are planning to deploy a new
server before too much longer and I am concerned that some of those users
will have an IP address configured for their 5250 session and that will fail
when we deploy the server.
Has anyone been through the same issue and managed to deploy a change
through active directory group policy or similar.
I have tried to 'google' for an answer but no joy.
TIA
