Remember too that IBM i Access sessions used for this DO NOT count against any licenses so you can install iAccess and the TN5250 emulator for free for the console sessions. So this is not a cost problem.

A $35 copy of Mocha or IBM's Personal Communications (more) is too
easy? Maybe TN5250, free?

Instead of using IBM i Access' emulator, I'm trying to start a console session on my HMC from a green screen telnet session on an LPAR. I do get to the "pick a language" screen, but any input gives me "key not valid."

Has anyone done this successfully, or is the mapping provided by telnet incompatible?
