This capability is further documented in, I believe but cannot confirm as
I'm off at COMMON, the 5494 Functions Reference (or some supplement to the
Reference).

Not only possible but has been available for years - check the HTML
keyword in DDS. I believe that some of the Open Access and Refacing tools
use it as a vehicle for passing additional data to the browser.
