Ok, that last thread helped a lot.
Everything is created as a "virtual Adaptor" and you select which client partition connect from.
Also, I didn't realize that you can select any partition.
So a "hosted" partition is not necessary all from the same partition, but can be from multiples.
It's probably recommended to host all from the same partition.
The 1st link would not download. 3rd one was mostly VM and VIOS
2nd link helped the most, SG247713 - IBM i 6.1 Technical Overview
A virtual IO server is NOT needed, correct.
I'm not one to leap canyons with a single bound, but then some days I do feel like an i-Series "Superman"

Please do not try to climb from one side of the Grand Canyon to the other blindfolded and at night. If you can't get Pete's guide then try my links, especially the 6.1 overview link I sent.

Using the HMC create partition wizard, I created a 4th partition.
However, no where through this process did I see where this partition
would be "hosted" and tied to an existing partition.
At this point, it appears as a "normal" or "standard" partition, with no
physical hardware assigned to it.

You can add more storage spaces on the fly. Just don't add more than 16
to one device. Create another device instead. Otherwise the 17th space
will just eat space and never be used. Can only be removed in a system
down condition.
