Well, for one, you don't have to do this because 2.7 is indeed "2.3.3
or later". I actually don't know if the version(s) earlier than 2.3.3
are even available anymore.

But the main thing is actually that the whole list of instructions
you're quoting from is superseded by the README that is at the link I
provided (here it is again, for convenience):

If you just click that, you will be taken to a directory with two files:

README.txt
python27_revE.zip

You don't even have to download the README because it's also displayed
on that same page, below the file list. (And another copy is also
within the .zip, for good measure.)

So there's actually no "configuration" per se if you just go with what
the README says. Once it's unpacked/restored, you're good to go.
