When it comes to feedback from a business logic trigger to say, JDBC,
how will the ILE public data structure export help?

An ILE data export won't help in that case, except to illustrate a point
about the possibility of supplementing a rather restrictive interface of
IBM (2 parms passed to Trigger programs which might return an *Escape
message).

In order to "supplement" the interface for ODBC and similar clients, maybe
you offer a stored procedure that the client can call after an *Escape
message percolates up the call stack, which offers the same or similar
information provided by an ILE data export.

That premise also reinforces the role of a Trigger Mediator utility which
might implement that type of plumbing so that an ILE Trigger Handler just
fills in the same return values, regardless of whether the client is an ILE
application or a .Net application.
