What you're describing would be akin to the Active/Passive
controller configuration in the DS3/4/5xxx, and in those cases
you need to have more LUNs to fully utilize both controllers.
The same applies here, correct? at least 2 parity sets and the
more the merrier?


Not really the same as DS3/4/5 because those have 2 "CPU's" and
a lot more goes on under the covers regarding pathing.

Increasing the quantity of SSDs or HDDs to get two arrays or
simply reconfiguring RAID5 protection to get two arrays provides
an immediate fix. Remember with SAS devices (HDD or SSD), 3
drive parity sets perform really well.
