I'm talking about multiple layers of integrity.
Sure, if you're going to start doing triggers and constraints you will
definitely need to do new error handling techniques. However, to stop the
decimal data error you won't, unless you are intentionally storing
character data in a numeric column. Like my classic example of someone
using a data structure to repurpose a numeric column (like Ethiopian
currency conversion) into some character column.
