Print operation complete to the default printer device file. but no host prints appearing

I am using 5250 emulation. While in a screen I press Ctrl-Pause and I see
the message
" Print operation complete to the default printer device file."
I then return to the command line and do
WRKJOB
4. Work with spooled files
Even if the darn thing had printed it should appear as "Fin". If spool
files aren't being associated with job then no spool files would show up
but that's not the case. Just the host prints are not showing up
the spool file is not there but other spool files generated by the job
are.
I tried WRKSPLF but no output from the print screen is there.
