Is there anything that this method doesn't save/restore? the
VMLibrary, file-backed devices (i've seen them in production
best practices not-withstanding)...

Roberto, nothing is saved from the original VIOS except the
mappings for SEA, VSCSI, and NPIV.

We don't use virtual optical from our VIOS LPARs.

Instead of setting up a NIM server for installing AIX and VIOS,
I use the media repository functions from the HMC and then we
have an IBM i LPAR for network install for i.
