Could you point me to Scott Klements examples?

For the archives, useful search keywords are 'Klement POI'.

Sometimes we suffer from an embarrassment of riches. This very link
is already in Paul's original post.

One can also use Python and xlwt - it's pretty easy even for me, a
decidedly non-Python programmer.

Also in the original post. Well, the archived message you're
referring to isn't specifically quoted, but the relevant links within
that message are; as well as my updated suggestions (namely to use
XlsxWriter instead of xlwt if you don't need compatibility with older
versions of Excel, and the bitbucket link to my utility, which is more
up-to-date than what's on the midrange.com code scratchpad).

So, for the archives, actually Paul did a nice job gathering most of
the useful links and commentary in one place already, which was the
first post in this thread:

Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we archive to retrieve!
