IMHO bizspark/dreamspark is a trap ;) And it only is a short term solution.

I know I can save the money but I need the pro features and now I am
looking at even features from ultimate. I could probably use free
equivalents to those pro features though and I'll look into that first.
IIRC developing commercial software with the community editions
violates the spirit of the license if not legally as well. Taking a
serious look at entity framework and sql server vs nhibernate and
postgresql I kind of prefer the latter. Even though it means more work
and more hours for the client, I just show them the sql server licensing
costs ;) Maybe I should finally check out DB2 LUW.

Oh and I only upgrade VS every 2 years or so so it's more like $350.
It's expensive for sure but since it's one of the few pieces of
commercial software I have to buy I'm okay with it.

Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark,

FYI: Visual Studio Community Edition is pretty much Pro with Zero cost.

You can probably even save your $700 per year or you can even join Bizspark and get inexpensive software tooling as well.
